Session Style Guide

WHAT TO WEAR

Let’s boost your confidence and check out some tips and tricks to ensure your session is perfectly YOU.

Have you booked your Session and have NO CLUE what to wear?

Knowing what to wear will make your photos look amazing. And planning your outfits early will ensure your Senior Session experience is unforgettable. Having the RIGHT outfits for your Senior Session DOES make all the difference.

Personality and Body type

Why it is important to not be trendy

BE YOU
You are one of a kind and you want your outfits to reflect that. Pick outfits that represent who you are and make you feel like yourself.

BE COMFORTABLE AND CONFIDENT
Let’s be honest, some of the trendy outfits are not made for everyone. Just because everyone is wearing it doesn't mean that it is made for us. Pick comfortable outfits that fit your body type and are something you would typically wear—feeling self-conscious about an outfit? Don’t wear it!

Tops

So many choices! Where do I even begin?

Pick a color or pattern that compliments you!

Steer clear of tops that are super low cut or overly revealing. Keep in mind that these images are usually shared with family and friends.

TOPS STYLE TIP:

When you're out shopping, keep in mind which undergarments will suit you best. Keep in mind what undergarments your other outfits may need and bring them all.

Bottoms

Pants, shorts, and skirts... what should I wear?

Pants allow for the most variety in poses, as skirts and shorts will limit sitting poses. Choose bottoms that flatter you and make you confident.

BOTTOMS STYLE TIP:

When choosing bottoms, I suggest keeping them a neutral color with no pattern and saving the wow moment for your top.

Dresses

Dresses are the easiest option, fewer pieces to worry about!

Midi and maxi dresses are especially flattering and timeless on camera.

Dresses Style tip:

If you can spin, walk, or sit comfortably in it, it’s likely a great choice for photos. Stiff fabrics limit movement, and overly tight dresses can be uncomfortable and show tension in photos.

MORE OUTFIT TIPS

Stick to timeless styles

Classic silhouettes age better than trendy cuts and ensure your photos feel beautiful years from now.

Get more looks with Layers and accessories

If your package includes a limited number of outfits and you don't want to pay extra, don’t change; add a layer or accessory instead. Adding a hat, blazer, lettermen jacket, or sweaters can change the whole look without it being a different outfit! And I wont charge extra.

CHoose solid colors or self patterns

Solid colors photograph best and keep the focus on you. If you love patterns, stick to small, subtle prints rather than bold or busy designs.

Prioritize fit and comfort

Your outfits should fit well and allow you to move easily. If you’re constantly adjusting them, it will show in your photos.

Jewlery should be simple

It is stressful to remember all the pieces of your outfit. When choosing jewelry, I suggest wearing your everyday jewelry or something that matches all of your outfits. For earrings, you can’t go wrong with pearls or simple hoops. If you are taking senior pictures, BRING YOUR CLASS RING. It’s a must.

Nails should be neutral and not distracting

Wear neutral nail polish. Avoid loud or bright colors on your nails. We show your hands in several images. We want to notice your hands and nails, but not be distracted by them. White, clear, French tips, or my favorite O.P.I. Bubble Bath is the most perfect neutral pink.

Shoes should be comfortable and simple

I get it, I am a statement shoe girlie. For your session, keep it simple. Your shoes will not be in every picture. Like your jewelry, it's better to have shoes that will match multiple outfits, so you do not have to worry about numerous pieces.

Hair and makeup

I want you to look fabulous for your session. I suggest you do your hair and makeup yourself! Don’t exeperiment with anything new! If you book professional hair and makeup, do a trial run so you know what to expect.
